One little tennis ball!
March 8th, 2006 by Sarah KingMy boy has a tennis racket. His best mate Dan has a tennis racket. His big sister has a balcony on the first floor of our house. She gets mad when the boy and his mate knock tennis balls onto her balcony. It’s great sport!
Our house has a flat roof with a single drain in it. The drain opening is slightly smaller than a tennis ball. It rained last night. And our house leaked. Mostly because the tennis ball was acting as a plug and water on the roof was almost knee deep.
Strangely, once the tennis ball was removed the water stopped pouring through the light fittings
Small boys have alot to answer to!
Trademe’s ultimate auction!
March 6th, 2006 by Sarah KingNZ online auction house TradeMe has just been sold despite earlier pledges of “I won’t sell” by baby-tycoon Sam Morgan. He started up the eBay wannabe site in 1999 and despite attempts to compete it remains the dominant auction house in NZ.
But get this – he sold it for $700million! That’s alot of dosh being thrown around by Fairfax and it’s ex-All Black CEO David Kirk.
Stuff (also in the Fairfax stable) have an article on it: Fairfax acquires Trade Me for $700m. Lets hope Fairfax don’t spoil the magic!
DropIn TV
March 3rd, 2006 by Sarah KingNo problem knowing where you’ll find me on a Thursday night – gazing at the square box with my pulse rate up through the roof! DropIn TV has started and it’s a blast (check out their teaser). I actually have to remind myself that I can’t actually ride like that but maybe the visualisation works!!! Winning feels So Good!
February 21st, 2006 by Sarah KingMy children have just decided that they want to enter the BMX Nationals at Cambridge this Easter so we had a big flurry to get the qualified as there were only 4 NQM race meets left and we had to do 3! It’s meant two weekends full of travel to races, standing in the heat and dust – and that’s just us! They have to do alot of hard work. Read the rest of this entry »
Woodhill Train Station
February 16th, 2006 by Sarah KingWell, it would make a lot of sense wouldn’t it?
I’m surprised Maxx & co haven’t smelt the CRC and decided to cash in on their existing, but seemingly idle infrastructure.
3 trains a day on Saturday and Sunday
I’d run 3 trains each weekend day up to Helensville, one early in the morning, one arriving in Helensville in time for lunch and another later in the afternoon. Read the rest of this entry »
Bikewise
February 5th, 2006 by Sarah King
Bikewise is an initiative to encourage NZ’ers onto their bikes and it’s held in the first week of February. Never mind that cycling on the roads is only for the truly brave and committed due to our roads barely catering for bikes.
We love bikes though so we’ll be embracing Bikewise again this year – and even organising an event (details to follow).
You will definately find us at the Mountain Bike Jams at Woodhill but we’ll be missing the Western Springs ride which is a really good event for most children.
Unfortunately when I don’t work from home I work across the harbour bridge – no cycle lane – so biking on Go By Bike Day is not an option.
EdAlive maths and spelling games
September 13th, 2005 by Sarah KingOver the Xmas holidays my children were introduced to Volcanic Panic a maths game from EdAlive. It was a great introduction to educational games that could be played by the 10 year old cousin, and my two – all at the same time. Read the rest of this entry »
Bad Jelly the Witch
September 3rd, 2005 by Sarah KingYesterday afternoon Hilz, my wonderful sister in law, offered us some tickets to Bad Jelly the Witch. It was being produced by the Southern Stars Charitable Trust who somehow manage to make money while giving away huge numbers of tickets (but when you buy them, wow, they’re pricey). The shows are always fundraisers for charities, this time it was for Epilepsy Auckland and North Harbour. Read the rest of this entry »
