Playing the Captcha Game

I’ve written before about captcha decoy sites - where the captcha from one site is used on another site to release images but the captcha is then used by a bot to spam the original site.

Today I found my first concrete proof (I haven’t been looking that hard) that people are actually out there deliberately working to overrun captcha rules.

You can see the entire thread at DigitalPoint: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1011116 and what is disappointing is not just that this user wants people, but the number who have lined up to work for him.

So, next time you wonder why your site is being spammed and the captcha isn’t working - perhaps it’s because of these guys.
