Top 100 vBulletin Forums
January 9th, 2006 by Sarah KingOn a whim I decided to purchase the domain Top 100 vBulletin and put a wsnlinks directory on the site to rank vBulletin forums.
The only requirement is that External Data is turned on giving me access to external.php.
I’m then ranking the forums based on
- Number of threads
- Ratings by visitors to the directory
- Google’s PR
Skaffe.com melts down?
November 15th, 2005 by Sarah KingSkaffe.com is a big directory with paid and free submissions that has ambitions to topple DMOZ.
They have a way to go to but the directory has lasted a few years and continues to grow.
I just wanted to check something out tonight and found I could get the index page but none of the categories – and the index looked pretty broken too.
Skaffe have an important role to play, lets hope they don’t stay broken for long!
Redirects have no place in a Directory
September 21st, 2005 by Sarah KingRedirects are where a link to a site looks like http://www.mysite.com/go/143/ or http://www.mysite.com/goto.php?site=143
These are great for the directory owner because they can track the popularity of a link and capture other statistics. They are, however, almost worthless for the site owner. Read the rest of this entry »

That’s good SEO, you might even find me recommending it (or not). But as a directory owner you may also find me rejecting your request. Read the rest of this entry »
Watching my directory?
April 11th, 2005 by Sarah KingIf you’re not, then maybe you should be… but only if you’re harvesting real estate or property investment related links
I’ve made an rss feed available of my approved property investment links so that anyone can follow who I’m approving. The good thing here is that I may discover someone you haven’t, and you can then go and ask them for a link – and even follow the chain of the sites they link to.
Let me know if you use it, or if you also publish a feed like this. Hopefully we’ll all benefit from our combined efforts!
Link Manager for Link Exchangers
April 10th, 2005 by Sarah KingThe Problem
I visit a site looking for a link exchange and I look at the other links they have and wonder if I can exchange links with those ones too. I visit them and then find that they’re already listed. But I have 127 categories so I have to use the internal search tool and it adds significantly to the time spent building up my links. Read the rest of this entry »
